Valentino Rossi's VR46 Racing Team appears poised to remain in the Ducati family, with team director Uccio Salucci indicating an announcement could come within weeks despite interest from rival manufacturer Aprilia.
VR46 currently faces uncertainty beyond the 2026 season as MotoGP prepares for new technical regulations in 2027. The team stepped up as Ducati's primary satellite outfit in 2025 after replacing Pramac, but lacks a contract extending into the new era of 850cc engines and banned ride height devices.
While Aprilia made overtures to potentially lure VR46 away from Ducati, Salucci revealed those discussions were largely diplomatic rather than serious negotiations.
"We spoke a bit with Aprilia because they wanted to talk to us, and we're gentlemen," Salucci told Motorsport.com. "I've known Massimo Rivola for many years. When Valentino tested Formula 1 with Ferrari, Massimo Rivola handled the situation in 2004 – 22 years ago."

"I know Massimo, he's a good person and an excellent manager. We've spoken a couple of times, two or three, why not? But I've never thought about changing and leaving Ducati," Salucci said.

"We're very close to signing. There are only a few small details left to work out. I think there could be an announcement next month. We're really close to re-signing with Ducati," Salucci revealed.
